About Library Programs
The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County offers many programs for children. On almost any day of the month, there is a program at one our many agencies. Listed below are programs that are free to the public and scheduled regularly at many different locations. Program times and dates may vary. Please check the program calendar for a complete list of all currently scheduled programs.
For Younger Children (Infants to age 5)
- Library Babies. Parents and their babies (usually 6-18 months) are introduced to books, rhymes, lap games and other activities.
- Toddler Storytime. Stories, rhymes, fingerplays, and movement activities for parents and their toddlers (usually 18 - 36 months).
- Preschool Storytime. Stories and songs for 3-5 year olds.
- Bedtime Storytime. Stories and songs to calm the young ones (ages 3 & up) down.
For Older Children (Age 5-12)
- Super Saturdays. Storytime and crafts for 6-12 year olds.
- Book Discussion Groups. Read a book in advance and discuss it with other kids or do a little reading with the group and then discuss it later at home. Usually for 9-12 year olds.
- Afterschool Programs. Contact your branch for information about programs such as the Explorer's Club and Afterschool Adventures.
For the Entire Family
- Family Storytimes. Stories and crafts for the entire family
Special Programs
- Bilingual Storytimes. Contact your branch for language, age recommendations, location, and time.
- Summer Reading Club. Children can participate from June 1 through August 15 at all agencies.
Contact your branch for special family programs and offerings held in conjunction with events such as National Chemistry Week and National Children's Book Week.
